There Is NO Substitute for the Lord's Peace

Hola!! I dont have too much time to write while here in the mtc, and we basically do the same thing everyday haha spanish spanish spanish. but i have already learned so much! (Sorry if my grammer and spelling is bad these keyboards are brutal.)

Tues- Traveling and met my sweet comp hermana Lee. I know i will be able to learn so much from her!

Wed- Today was just kind of a welcome to the mtc day and the president welcomed us and talked to us about being our best selves. "obedience brings blessings, exact obedience brings miracles" Sometimes its hard being around so many people that are my same age because i just want to be the social butterfly that i am lol but this is the lords time and i cannot waste it! We also talked about seeking the gift of tongues. I am trying to remember that the spirit comes before the language! Tonight we met our whole branch and district and i love every last one of them! My district has 6 boys and 6 girls, they are all such diligent workers so it helps me stay on task and learn from them.

Thurs- We already taught our first lesson haha they are not wasting any time here! It went pretty well, i had to write down everything that i wanted to say so that was hard for me. I have so much to say but cant say it.. I think thats why i am supposed to learn spanish though. I need to learn to teach simply:)

Fri- More spanish learning all day.. But tonight in my scripture study i learned that i need to walk humbly before the lord. "come unto him and be humble and he will make my weak things strong" Not being able to speak your own language is so tough but if the lord could make stones shine in darkness that they might not cross the great waters in darkness then i know he will help my light shine while learning spanish.

Sat- Today we focused alot on finding our purpose. it wasnt easy for christ and his servants so its not going to be easy for me! My purpose is to invite others to come unto christ. I am a literal representative of him, what an honor!! I am here to lose myself in the people of uyrugay and while christ works through me to save them, i know these people are going to save me!

Sun- Your first week here everyone says to just get to sunday and youll be ok haha they were right. We learned that we were chosen before we were born to be a missionary. We werent born to be mediocre! Be valient, not average:) I need to unbind my tongue and teach people of this amazing truth that makes me so happy. "they are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it" I need to give it my absolute all. And giving it my all means that i have absolutely no energy by the end of the day.. haha.

Mon- Spanish again, all day. I know that the lord will work miracles if i give it my all and trust in him. If i walk around undefeated, then so will my district! God has given us the gift of leadership and we cannot waste it. The only person that limits us is ourselves! I am prepared to give everything i have. I know the spirit is cheering me on, i just need to learn to not doubt myself so i can actually hear it!

Tues- I will go i will do. I can say that all i want but the lord needs more! I need more. I need to be able to say i went and i did. We had an awesome worldwide missionary devotional tonight and we talked about our ancestors missions and how much harder it was for them. We are so blessed! Be careful when you complain, think about your ancestors. The lords work is work but it is sweet labor. The closing hymn was i believe in christ. My favorite line is i believe in christ, so come what may! amen to that. Come what may, man!! Because i believe in christ!

Wed- Today was a bit of a low day because of the language. But the mtc president pulled me out of class and told me that i need to continue to keep my enthusiasm up. I need to be the medicine for the people around me! We cannot recieve revelation if we are looking down, so look up!

This has been the hardest week of my life, but the best week for my life. I love being a missionary and i love my family!! Hug them for me please.

Setting-Apart as a Full-time Missionary

Amelia P. McEwan
Mission Setting-Apart Blessing

October 16, 2017
Given By Chris Juchau, Highland South Stake President

Amelia, we set you apart as a full-time missionary of the Church of Latter Day Saints assigned to labor in the Uruguay, Montevideo West Mission.

Amelia, you are so very loved and raised in a home with parents who have loved and protected you. You came to earth with great spiritual abilities. You have improved those for the people you will meet and they will love you.

We bless you with spiritual gifts, with love and with charity.

Amelia, prepare yourself for wonderful encounters with individuals in which Heavenly Father has prepared for you. We also bless you with love for the people you serve and for those you serve with. See the love Heavenly Father has for you.

Help show those you serve and those you serve with of His Love. We bless you with the gift of love and service for the people.

We bless you that you will have formative experiences as you establish stronger relations with others.

You have prepared and the Heavenly Father will enable you to be an effective missionary. His love for you and His plan and sacrifice He has made for you means you are part of his family.

Teach the people about families. The covenants of the temple, and always remember the covenants you have made and blessings you have received.

Be filled with love and respect for others and He will work within you. All of your strengths and abilities will benefit others on your mission. You will quickly feel the love of the people. We bless you with the ability to lose yourself and focus on the people you serve. You will feel lifted from this.

You will experience joy as you serve. This joy will be recognized in your service by yourself and by others.

Let your light shine and allow others to see the Savior’s light through their encounters with you.

We bless you to include the Spirit of the Holy Ghost as you serve. On a rare occasion you will feel his absence. Always be in a position to receive his help. The gift of the Holy Ghost will be a companion to you.

You will feel and recognize the Savior’s perfect love for you and this will be expressed to you in this life and in eternity. Help the people to receive the atonement and come unto Him.  The most important relationship you will focus on is the Savior and to the people you teach.

We bless you that you will be a good teacher. Magnify and strengthen your spiritual gift of being articulate. You will be able to answer and help them.

We bless you with patience and a sense of humor. To learn to wait for those you teach and to yourself. You get time to learn and grow.

We bless you that you will feel peace and comfort from the Holy Ghost. In the moments you have anxiety you will feel the Holy Ghost. Express and be patient with yourself. The Holy Ghost will help you in all aspects of your mission.

Place your focus on the Godhead and know they will be with you. Find strength through their strength and love. Heavenly Father is always mindful of you.

Remember the love your family has for you. Be strong in mind and know you will be protected and safe from danger.

Amelia, you will continue to grow as you love others.

We seal these blessings and promises to you, and any others you might stand in need of at this time. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
